Sometimes … There’s A Day
(by Paul Mulliner)
The river,
slow, brown, slow-brown, swirling,
its continuous sliding change
like the passing
of every fleeting, precious moment
as we met that day,
two stars finding each other
in the endless vastness of space,
suddenly knowing
they’d always been one star.
And sometimes
there’s a day, like that day,
when the space and light inside us
blends with all the silence
that breathes across our Universe
helping us bring love into this world
that only we could bring,
a gift from the unseen
only we could give,
gentle kindness flowering
in our heart,
while so much hate surrounds us
in this world.
And all the days pass by too soon,
but life is larger than it seems
as though every moment’s known
by every star,
while something formless,
enduring,
words can’t describe,
a silent harmony
unfolding into inspiration
and blending into our becoming,
is gently reminding us
how short life is,
how sometimes
briefly touched with joy.
