Like Lost Echoes … All across the wind-blown ocean

        A languid swell
makes tide bells clang across the bay,
        their steady, unhurried rhythm
        older than our human time,
        the ancient slow-brown river
        in a silent dance
        with restless winds,
        while sudden intuitions
        bring something deeper
        to the moment,
        inspiration
        like a sound
        heard not by our ear
        but by our heart,
        illuminations of new meaning
for travelers of the inner path
        and artists of the soul.

        Like lost echoes
        all across the wind-blown ocean,
        intuitions in our heart
        bring fleeting moments of clarity,
        as though the universe,
the eternal in all of us,
        were helping us discover
        the hidden beauty
        woven through its boundless soul,
        while it in turn
        discovers itself woven
        into matter,
blended all through the swirls emerging
        in the slow-brown, slow-moving river,
as tide bells clang and echo
        all across the bay.

And while seagulls screech and chatter
        in the sky above,
        it suddenly begins to rain.
