Het tempelcomplex Angkor Wat in Cambodja is misschien wel de meest verbazingwekkende oude plek op aarde. Het beslaat een oppervlakte van meer dan 400 hectare en bestaat uit ongeveer 10 miljoen stenen blokken die ingewikkeld zijn uitgehouwen en gestapeld in tempels, terrassen en galerijen. Ter vergelijking: Angkor Wat beslaat drie keer de oppervlakte van Vaticaanstad en bestaat uit meer dan vier keer zoveel blokken als de Grote Piramide van Gizeh.
